Veteran Tamil films producer V.A. Durai who was undergoing treatment for severe diabetes has passed away. He was 59 and is survived by his two wives Vijayalakshmi and Lakshmi and daughters, Shruti and Sindhu born to the former and Keerthana born to the latter.
V.A. Durai is best known for serving as the executive producer of Superstar Rajinikanth’s ‘Baba’ and later for producing the pathbreaking ‘Pithamagan’ directed by Bala and starring Chiyaan Vikram and Suriya. He later produced a string of hit films that include Vijayakanth’s ‘Gajendra’, Sathyaraj’s ‘Ennamma Kannu’ and ‘Vivaramana Aalu’ and Karthik’s ‘Lovely’.
Durai a few months back sought financial help from the film fraternity and Rajinikanth and Suriya immediately responded and took care of major medical expenses. Several celebrities have expressed their condolences to the bereaved family. RIP!
